TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Oct. 26 (PIA) - - Of the 438 active cases of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Cagayan Valley today, 21 were monitored to be in critical condition and 33 are in severe stage, Department of Health (DOH) region 2 reported.
Dr. Nica Taloma from the regional epidemiology and surveillance unit, said the 21 individuals assessed in critical condition is only 0.8 percent of the total active cases and the 33 who are in severe stage is 1.3 percent of the total active cases.
She also said asymptomatic patients have the highest number of cases with 166 or 63.3 percent while 908 or 34.5 percent are in mild condition.
Of the active cases, Isabela registered the highest number with 306, followed by Cagayan with 113, and 19 in Nueva Vizcaya while there are no longer active cases in the provinces of Quirino and Batanes.
As of today, there were already 38 deaths related to COVID-19 in the region in which Nueva Vizcaya has already recorded 19 cases, 12 in Isabela, six in Cagayan and one in Santiago City.
"There were already 2, 624 positive cases in the region but we have already 2,148 or 81. 85 percent of recoveries in the region," Taloma said.
She also said the most affected group remains to be ages 21 to 30 years old.
In totality, Taloma said there were already 36, 814 specimen collected and tested in the region wherein 34, 190 samples turned negative in the test results registering 7.1 percent positivity rate.
The cities of Ilagan and Tuguegarao including Solano town of Nueva Vizcaya remain to be the places with community transmission while the towns of San Manuel, Gamu and Tumauini of Isabela; Enrile of Cagayan and Bagabag of Nueva Vizcaya are the municipalities with local transmission.
The Ilagan West National High School in Ilagan City, Isabela; the Cauayan Medical Specialist Hospital in Cauayan City, Isabela; and the Enrile Police Station in Enrile, Cagayan were the workplaces monitored to have local transmission too. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
